The intent of this thread is to post the visibility divers encounter from surface to the bottom.

Please post location (inshore/offshore), visiblitiy (depth and visibility)

Offshore - surface to 20' - vis 20', at 40' hit layer of brown algae vis <10 until 20' from bottom (80) bottom vis 20-30'

Inshore (7 miles west of pass) surface to 15' vis 20-30', 30-bottom brown layer of algae all the way to the bottom - vis <5'

Emailed FWC this morning requesting info on the brown layer in the water:

1. What is the brown layer in the water?
2. Is it safe to dive in the brown layer?
3. What is the impact on fish having contact with the brown layer?

Offshore/timberholes area - Surface to 10' carpeted with frisbee size jellyfish. Brown water to 40', under 40' vis was 50+ feet.
