Looks like it's official. The Daily News today reports that snapper season will be shortened by at least 2 weeks this year. Size and bag limit to remain the same. Season will open June 1, close date yet to be determined.

I just can't believe it! I knew it was coming, but I still just can't believe it!

I heard on tv news this morning that there will be a 75 day snapper season. I wonder where they are getting their information?? Sea-r-cy

The "Main Stream" media get the stuff they call news from the same region of their anatomy that Federal Regulators pull their studies from.

All these reports are premature. They haven't officially released it yet. Will probably be middle of March when announced!!

The exact length of the season is still to be decided, but I'm pretty sure it is official that it will open on June 1 and close in late July. The season will be shortened at least 2 weeks. That much is for sure, at least according to our local paper.

A 50 day season times two fish per day equals 100 Red Snapper. Shouldn't we get to catch all our quota at one time, or spread it out over several trips, like the commercial boats can?

I would really be OK with that!! I average 20 to 25 snapper trips a year, so about 4 fish per trip, open all year.
