FWC Artificial Reef Inspection Day Because of ECRA’s Hardworking Volunteers,  We passed inspection the first time!

The Emerald Coast Reef Association accepted the donation of the Monica Lee Tugboat, from James & Val Flores, and with the tremendous help of our Member Volunteers, completely cleaned and prepped her for reefing.   This was an enormous task but, with the skills and dedication of our amazing members, the Monica Lee was transformed into the first artificial reef deployed in Okaloosa County in 4 years!

The Emerald Coast Reef Association provided 100% of the funding and the manpower to clean and prepare the Monica Lee.  ECRA also  created the anchoring plan, custom built the mooring anchor and  also was instrumental in preparation of the deployment/sink plan with consultation with Capt. James Flores and Larry Ropka. 

Thanks to Okaloosa County for  wastewater removal and covering  towing expenses.

ECRA is grateful for the excellent guidance provided by: Bill Horn, Jon Dodrill and Keith Mille of the FWC.  They are always  GREAT about sharing  their knowledge!
